Looked outside about 45minutes ago at one of the doe bedding areas across the street and there were two does feeding next to the tree line about 150 yards away. This spot holds several does and every year fawns are introduced into the world there. This year is no different.
Typically I see my 1st one on June 1st, or the earliest to this date has been May 31st. Well, today is May 26th and this little guy was not a newborn. The way he moved around and ran and moved about along with what I have seen over the many years, he was at least a 2-3 day old Fawn.
Mom was on full alert and when I walked out after watching them for 30 minutes or so, she caught my movement right away and stared me down the whole time I was watching her and the fawn thru the Binoculars.
This doe is not one of the older does in the group of 9 in this area and looked like it was one of the younger 1-2 year olds with here 1st Fawn.
This post starts back to last Thursday evening wade fishing the GMR with Hampton77, Z3bul0n, and OhioAngler2016.
Wading the GMR Thursday May 21
We fished a couple spots for a couple hours that night. Nice riffles that earned Hampton77 2 channel catfish on keitech baits, and me 2 small smallmouth. One on a curly shad and the other on a keitech.
We move down stream and hit a spot where it's nothing but straight rock bottom and swifty moving water. We all started by throwing soft plastics. Ohioangler2016 was the first to make a switch to a crank bait since the area was free of snags and deep enough. That was the ticket for this spot. Charturese rattling square bills and fire tiger pattern cranks were what were being used. Between ohioangler2016 and I we hooked into 9 smallies in a 30 minute window. I lost the fight with a great fish in this spot. He hammered my...
What a night it was wade fishing the Great Miami River with Ohio Game Fishing member Z3bul0n.
We hit the river around 6 pm today in hopes for some smallie action. Perfect weather for wading in my opinion. The water was a good temp, the outside temp was perfect for neoprene waders. I was happy.
Our first spot Zeb and I immediately got on some smallies around 10" within the first 5 minutes we were there. He was using a black with blue flake senko, while I was using Vic Coomer curly shads.
If you don't have curly shads, then you need to make your way to fisherman headquarters on Keowee st in Dayton and buy some! These baits are awesome. The action is great. They look great. Now I have to buy some more because the fish I caught tonight demolished all of the ones I had.
We moved downstream to our second spot. Riffles everywhere. One side of rock a huge swirling eddy, the other side a slow moving...
With a few days left in the 1st week, several Ohio Sportsman Members entered into the 2015 Spring Turkey Contest already have scored on some nice Birds-

Youth Hunt Success-
Sometimes I forget how much I love turkey hunting. When deer season has ended and other hunters are dreaming about spring mornings and turkeys gobbling, I’m still chasing rabbits with my beagles. They are a good distraction. When March rolls around, there is still much to keep my mind occupied. The rabbit running in March is some of the best ever. There are things that need done on the farm as well. There are poultry pens to strip after a long hard winter and many things that need fixed around the barnyard. I can hear the turkeys start gobbling on the roost on some March mornings but my mind is distracted. March slides into April and I hardly notice the turkeys. I have lived on this farm almost 20 years now and I know not to be concerned about what the turkeys are doing the first two weeks of April because by opening day of turkey season they will be...
